Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall D
ValueC- NeedB+ TradesF FutureC+
The Seahawks got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Seahawks spent slot 173 on Davin Vann, a name most had 91 spots down the list.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Reed that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and linebacker is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Tyler Booker
In the 20th pick they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
They paid up for Jaxson Dart at No. 42 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at pick No. 68 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in Round 3, Pick 18 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at slot 107 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick121 Rnd4 Nazir Stackhouse
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nazir Stackhouse this early at the Round 4 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
By-the-book stuff, Mello Dotson at slot 137 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick173 Rnd5 Davin Vann
Davin Vann at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick212 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Somehow Dont'e Thornton Jr. was still sitting there in the 212th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick236 Rnd7 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in pick 236 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
