The Browns found their guy under center in Milroe: A. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cody Simon got past him. The Browns do not have to explain a thing at the 190th pick. They executed a plan and it shows in the A.
The whole projection now runs through Jalen Milroe; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
They are betting Milroe proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jalen Milroe and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the 15th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick25
Rnd1
Jalen Milroe
In No. 25 they get their guy under center for the next decade, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Cameron Williams
A clean, defensible pick in pick 33 with a little surplus value in Cameron Williams. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick38
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in No. 38, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick46
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Steal is underselling it; Omarion Hampton at slot 46 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick67
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
They went early on Donovan Jackson in the 67th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick94
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
No edge and no loss on Tez Johnson in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick102
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette at the 102nd pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick163
Rnd5
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in Round 5, Pick 26 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 177, where Dont'e Thornton Jr. graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick190
Rnd6
Cody Simon
You do not let a linebacker like Cody Simon reach the 190th pick and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick198
Rnd6
Elijah Arroyo
They will replay Elijah Arroyo at No. 198 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick214
Rnd6
Upton Stout
Upton Stout at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick215
Rnd6
Samuel Brown
Samuel Brown at the 215th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick256
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in pick 256 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
