Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bills: B.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bills started one anyway for Shaun Dolac, 111 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The Barron steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while edge rusher and quarterback went begging. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In the 30th overall pick they get an island corner, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick62 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick63 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Maxwell Hairston in slot 63 leaves edge rusher and quarterback for later.
Pick95 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
No edge and no loss on Kevin Winston Jr. in pick No. 95; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
The board had Darius Alexander higher than pick 109, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick132 Rnd4 Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in No. 132 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick169 Rnd5 DJ Giddens
By-the-book stuff, DJ Giddens at Round 5, Pick 31 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
They took Seth McLaughlin at par in pick No. 170, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jake Briningstool
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jake Briningstool. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick177 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
They paid sticker price for Jack Kiser in pick 177, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jalen Travis
They reached a country mile for Jalen Travis at the 206th pick, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick226 Rnd7 Shaun Dolac
A big swing on Shaun Dolac at No. 226, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
