Draft Grade — Bills

The Bills cashed the board's mistake on James: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bills watched Jordan James slide 82 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: linebacker settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Derrick Harmon
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a wrecking ball inside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos in No. 56 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick62 Rnd2 Tre Harris
Nice patience on Tre Harris, who had no business lasting to slot 62. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick108 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Kevin Winston Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick131 Rnd4 Chris Paul Jr.
The board fumbled Chris Paul Jr. all the way to pick No. 131, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick171 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
No drama and no debate, Dorian Strong went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick175 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the 175th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick179 Rnd6 Pat Bryant
Taking Pat Bryant in the 179th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jordan James
You do not let a running back like Jordan James reach pick 206 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick208 Rnd6 Logan Brown
They will replay Logan Brown at the 208th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
