Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bills and Rourke: B.

The board owed the Bills one, and it paid up: Kurtis Rourke, the No. 135 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 28 like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The Dumas-Johnson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 8 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In slot 30 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56 Rnd2 Kyle Kennard
They paid up for Kyle Kennard at No. 56 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick62 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 30 is lovely value for the safety. It fills a real need, too.
Pick108 Rnd4 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in pick 108 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Circle this one: Jake Majors at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick171 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cobee Bryant. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick175 Rnd5 Nazir Stackhouse
They reached into another round for Nazir Stackhouse, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick179 Rnd6 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Value said wait; Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 179th pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick206 Rnd6 Kurtis Rourke
Taking Kurtis Rourke in pick 206 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick208 Rnd6 DJ Giddens
Steal is underselling it; DJ Giddens at pick No. 208 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
