Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall D
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Broncos and Hall: D.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Broncos did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. It grades a D, and the process earned it.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Hall at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The Clark pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
In the 30th overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
They barely believed it either: Kenyon Sadiq still on the board at the Round 2 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick94 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 30: Omar Cooper Jr. for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick100 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
They did well to land Nicholas Singleton in the 100th pick, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick120 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keylan Rutledge. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick162 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner in No. 162 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick199 Rnd6 Bud Clark
A premium they did not need to pay, Bud Clark a notch or two before his time. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick251 Rnd7 Cole Payton
Value with a capital V on Cole Payton in the 251st overall pick, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick255 Rnd7 TJ Hall
TJ Hall at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
