Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Larceny in the 198th overall pick lands the Broncos a B, Lundt and all.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Chase Lundt got past him. The Broncos do not have to explain a thing at slot 198.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need McLaughlin to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Colston Loveland
In pick 30 they get a seam-stretching tight end, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Good price on Aireontae Ersery in No. 51, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick56 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
No drama and no debate, TreVeyon Henderson went about where he belonged in the 56th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick85 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at pick No. 85 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips is a better player than slot 121 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick131 Rnd4 Lander Barton
A reach for Lander Barton in the 131st pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick198 Rnd6 Chase Lundt
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick199 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley in Round 6, Pick 21 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick208 Rnd6 Ricky White III
By-the-book stuff, Ricky White III at slot 208 squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in Round 6, Pick 32 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick230 Rnd7 Seth McLaughlin
They went early on Seth McLaughlin in pick 230, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
