You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Broncos did exactly that with McKade Mettauer in the Round 7 slot.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Whatever Michael Penix Jr. becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Mitchell.

It is not that Stover is a bad player; it is that the Broncos had louder needs to answer first.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
