Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall D
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureA+
Larceny in pick 67 lands the Broncos a D, Morgan and all.

Somebody took the Broncos to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. With linebacker and edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

The Rice reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Morgan.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and linebacker is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Nate Wiggins
Value with a capital V on Nate Wiggins in the 36th pick, a genuine coup. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick40 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy in Round 2, Pick 8 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan at pick No. 67 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick68 Rnd3 T.J. Tampa
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: T.J. Tampa adds a cornerback while linebacker and edge rusher keeps waiting.
Pick76 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
The board had Ruke Orhorhoro higher than the 76th overall pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick86 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
No drama and no debate, Sedrick Van Pran went about where he belonged in slot 86. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick100 Rnd3 DJ James
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. DJ James in Round 3, Pick 37 leaves linebacker and edge rusher for later.
Pick104 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
They jumped the gun on Brenden Rice, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cam Hart
A surprising call. With linebacker and edge rusher still to address, they spent slot 121 on Cam Hart, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick132 Rnd4 Tyler Davis
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Davis at pick No. 132 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick136 Rnd4 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the 136th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick145 Rnd5 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick147 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
No edge and no loss on Luke McCaffrey in pick 147; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick162 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo in the 162nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick180 Rnd6 AJ Barner
They read the board right and AJ Barner was the payoff at the 180th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick203 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
The board had cheaper options than Joe Milton III at No. 203, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
Pick207 Rnd6 Javion Cohen
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Javion Cohen at pick No. 207. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick231 Rnd7 Daijun Edwards
Daijun Edwards at the 231st overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
