A franchise passer in McCarthy headlines a B- weekend for the Broncos.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Broncos spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

If Lovett pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with linebacker the one that mattered most.
