FutureB+
Larceny in the 52nd pick lands the Browns a D, Mitchell and all. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Browns, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Landing Mitchell that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
The veteran additions, Justin Fields chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In No. 12 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
Pick29
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
Circle this one: Quinyon Mitchell at pick 52 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick55
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in slot 55; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jonathon Brooks
The board had Jonathon Brooks higher than the 75th overall pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick86
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
A tidy little value on Roman Wilson in pick No. 86, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick90
Rnd3
Marist Liufau
Good price on Marist Liufau in Round 3, Pick 27, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick91
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They took Zak Zinter at par in the 91st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks slipping to slot 122 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick156
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khristian Boyd. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick205
Rnd6
Christian Jones
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Jones at pick No. 205, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
