The Browns drew a line under the quarterback search with Sanders: D. Thirty-one other rooms let Rod Moore slide, and the Browns were the ones holding the card at the Round 6 slot. Highway robbery. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Shedeur Sanders gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Savaiinaea left real value on the table behind him.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Kelvin Banks Jr.
In pick 4 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Pick6
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In the 6th pick they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick25
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In slot 25 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
They let Omarion Hampton come to them and pounced at pick No. 33. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick38
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
A reach on Jonah Savaiinaea in the 38th pick; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick41
Rnd2
Josh Simmons
Nothing to complain about; Josh Simmons went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick66
Rnd3
Shavon Revel Jr.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Shavon Revel Jr. graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick68
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
They read the board right and Barrett Carter was the payoff at the 68th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick83
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
They robbed the room for Xavier Watts here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick90
Rnd3
Tai Felton
Tai Felton in No. 90 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick121
Rnd4
Ozzy Trapilo
Taking Ozzy Trapilo in pick 121 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick188
Rnd6
Rod Moore
A safety of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 13 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
