Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
C-
ValueA+
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureA+
The Browns answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: C-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Browns watched T.J. Sanders slide 188 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. A mixed bag that lands at C-.
Cam Ward gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In the 12th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick34
Rnd2
Travis Hunter
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Travis Hunter in slot 34, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick45
Rnd2
Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty in the Round 2 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick46
Rnd2
Wyatt Milum
Somehow Wyatt Milum was still sitting there in pick 46, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick49
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at No. 49 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70
Rnd3
Tre Harris
The board fumbled Tre Harris all the way to pick No. 70, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick93
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
They robbed the room for Tate Ratledge here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick99
Rnd3
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at slot 99 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick116
Rnd4
Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in Round 4, Pick 15 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron in the 146th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick152
Rnd5
Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick166
Rnd5
Dylan Fairchild
They will replay Dylan Fairchild at the 166th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick215
Rnd6
T.J. Sanders
Steal is underselling it; T.J. Sanders at Round 6, Pick 40 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
