Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
Grand theft in the 113th overall pick: the Browns steal Simmons and grade out a D+.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Browns, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Too much went sideways, and the D+ is the honest tally.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. However the rest shakes out, Simmons at that price is a win they earned.

They are betting Truss proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In pick No. 17 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
Value with a capital V on Jalen Milroe in No. 49, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick50 Rnd2 Barrett Carter
They let Barrett Carter come to them and pounced at the 50th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick81 Rnd3 Trevor Etienne
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trevor Etienne at slot 81 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick113 Rnd4 Josh Simmons
Circle this one: Josh Simmons at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jacobee Bryant
They paid sticker price for Jacobee Bryant in Round 5, Pick 15, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick175 Rnd6 Jordan Burch
They took Jordan Burch at par in the 175th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick177 Rnd6 Xavier Truss
A reach on Xavier Truss in No. 177; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
