A franchise passer in Mendoza headlines a B weekend for the Browns.

Start where it matters. The Browns took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McCoy. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

Reaching for Mendoza left real value on the table behind him. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
