Draft Grade — Browns

FutureA
Grand theft in the 75th pick: the Browns steal Coleman and grade out a D. Somebody took the Browns to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Coleman pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick 17 they get protection for the quarterback, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick27
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick No. 27 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35
Rnd2
Darius Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Darius Robinson at slot 35 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick54
Rnd2
Ruke Orhorhoro
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ruke Orhorhoro. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick66
Rnd3
Max Melton
Nothing to complain about; Max Melton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75
Rnd3
Keon Coleman
Steal is underselling it; Keon Coleman at No. 75 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick85
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at the 85th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
No edge and no loss on Gabriel Murphy in the 89th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick90
Rnd3
Jonah Elliss
They took Jonah Elliss at par in No. 90, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick109
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in slot 109 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick124
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in Round 4, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick135
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick155
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
They read the board right and Nelson Ceaser was the payoff at pick 155. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick202
Rnd6
Walter Rouse
They barely believed it either: Walter Rouse still on the board at pick No. 202. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in slot 205 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Pick212
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
You do not let a cornerback like Dwight McGlothern reach Round 6, Pick 37 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick243
Rnd7
Tyler Owens
They let Tyler Owens come to them and pounced at pick No. 243. It fills a real need, too.
