Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureA+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Blue: A-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaydon Blue, the No. 175 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
The Nesbit pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Ja'Marr Chase leading the way.
Bottom line, with Nick Emmanwori leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get an enforcer at safety, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick79
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
They reached a country mile for Jared Wilson at No. 79, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
Pick89
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ozzy Trapilo in pick 89. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Ryan Fitzgerald
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ryan Fitzgerald this early at the Round 5 slot. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick217
Rnd7
Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue in pick No. 217 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick220
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock at the 220th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick232
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
Steal is underselling it; Luke Lachey at slot 232 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick238
Rnd7
Bryson Nesbit
Value said wait; Bryson Nesbit in the 238th pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
