Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall

ValueB-

FutureB-
The Buccaneers robbed the room for Mullings. Final grade: B-. Thirty-one other rooms let Kalel Mullings slide, and the Buccaneers were the ones holding the card at Round 7, Pick 6. Highway robbery. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Reaching for Sorrell left real value on the table behind him. The Campbell pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback still on the board.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 45 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick55
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Warren in the 55th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick59
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jihaad Campbell adds a linebacker and leaves quarterback untouched.
Pick66
Rnd3
Jared Ivey
They paid a round early for Jared Ivey in the 66th pick, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Pick81
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Jayden Higgins. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick96
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ozzy Trapilo well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick115
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
They robbed the room for Malachi Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick117
Rnd4
Rylie Mills
They jumped the gun on Rylie Mills, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick119
Rnd4
Savion Williams
A tidy bit of business in pick 119, where Savion Williams graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick128
Rnd4
Dorian Strong
A wild overpay on Dorian Strong in No. 128, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick134
Rnd4
O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune in the 134th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick137
Rnd4
Demetrius Knight Jr.
A curious use of slot 137. Quarterback needed the pick; a linebacker in Demetrius Knight Jr. did not.
Pick147
Rnd5
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick150
Rnd5
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Value said wait; Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in the 150th pick says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick152
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They liked Dont'e Thornton Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 5, Pick 15. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick156
Rnd5
Cody Simon
They barely believed it either: Cody Simon still on the board at the Round 5 slot. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick160
Rnd5
Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier in the 160th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick170
Rnd5
Barryn Sorrell
Barryn Sorrell at Round 5, Pick 33 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick173
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
A real head-scratcher, Davison Igbinosun in slot 173 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
A premium they did not need to pay, Jack Kiser a notch or two before his time. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick191
Rnd6
Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim in pick No. 191 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick207
Rnd6
Clay Webb
A straight-up fair deal on Clay Webb at the 207th pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick209
Rnd6
Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham in No. 209 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick218
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock in slot 218 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick219
Rnd7
Joey Slackman
Joey Slackman at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick222
Rnd7
Kalel Mullings
Kalel Mullings in the 222nd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235
Rnd7
Gentry Williams
They talked themselves into Gentry Williams at Round 7, Pick 19, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
