Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall

FutureB
The Buccaneers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Buccaneers took Que Robinson a full 63 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. On value alone, Giddens makes the weekend a net positive.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value.
Pick29
Rnd1
Harold Perkins Jr.
In No. 29 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
By-the-book stuff, Jonah Savaiinaea at the 45th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick74
Rnd3
T.J. Sanders
A tidy little value on T.J. Sanders in slot 74, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at the 93rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick97
Rnd3
Donovan Ezeiruaku
You do not let an edge rusher like Donovan Ezeiruaku reach Round 3, Pick 33 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick102
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
They let Danny Stutsman come to them and pounced at the 102nd overall pick. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick117
Rnd4
Ozzy Trapilo
The board had Ozzy Trapilo higher than Round 4, Pick 16, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick120
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at pick 120 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick123
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Tacario Davis in pick No. 123, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick131
Rnd4
Que Robinson
A real head-scratcher, Que Robinson in slot 131 is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick142
Rnd5
Logan Brown
They talked themselves into Logan Brown at No. 142, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick153
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
No drama and no debate, Cobee Bryant went about where he belonged in the 153rd pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick157
Rnd5
Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick181
Rnd6
Quincy Riley
The board had cheaper options than Quincy Riley at slot 181, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick184
Rnd6
Nic Anderson
A quiet steal in No. 184: Nic Anderson for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick195
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at the 195th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick196
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
Taking DJ Giddens in Round 6, Pick 21 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick200
Rnd6
Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger in the 200th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick202
Rnd6
Joey Slackman
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joey Slackman in pick 202, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick206
Rnd6
De'Corian Clark
They reached a country mile for De'Corian Clark at pick No. 206, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick233
Rnd7
Jason Henderson
A wild overpay on Jason Henderson in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick249
Rnd7
Cody Simon
Cody Simon at Round 7, Pick 35 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick252
Rnd7
Dorian Strong
A conviction pick on Dorian Strong at pick No. 252 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
