The Buccaneers did not so much draft Dont'e Thornton Jr. as overpay for him, 80 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.

The Perkins Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

If Will Johnson and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
