Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bills let McCoy fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bills watched Bru McCoy slide 55 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick50 Rnd2 Kalen King
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 50 with a little surplus value in Kalen King. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick99 Rnd3 Tory Horton
Nothing to complain about; Tory Horton went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick118 Rnd4 Reuben Fatheree II
They paid sticker price for Reuben Fatheree II in Round 4, Pick 18, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146 Rnd5 Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks is a better player than the 146th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson slipping to slot 155 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick191 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
They let Bryce Foster come to them and pounced at the 191st pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick196 Rnd6 Brennan Armstrong
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Brennan Armstrong in No. 196, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick204 Rnd6 Cam Hart
Taking Cam Hart in pick No. 204 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick239 Rnd7 Bru McCoy
Bru McCoy at No. 239 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
