Somebody in the Round 5 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Lathan Ransom, the No. 106 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

If Baron pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
