Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD FutureA+
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Cardinals.

The James Williams pick is the one that will follow the Cardinals into the fall. They took him 34 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The Sainristil pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, tight end and other spots.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick21 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick54 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
They jumped the gun on Zach Frazier, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick66 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A want over a need in No. 66: Mike Sainristil adds a cornerback while quarterback, tight end and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick71 Rnd3 Brandon Dorlus
A reach for Brandon Dorlus in pick No. 71; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick85 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
They took Bucky Irving at par in the 85th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick90 Rnd3 James Williams
They reached into another round for James Williams, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick138 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the 138th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick162 Rnd5 Khristian Boyd
Khristian Boyd at pick No. 162 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick186 Rnd6 Grayson Murphy
A quiet steal in Round 6, Pick 11: Grayson Murphy for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick226 Rnd7 Tatum Bethune
Tatum Bethune at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
