iand DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
C+
ValueD-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A mixed bag for the Seahawks, and a C+ to match. The rest of the league had time to spare on Will Howard; the Seahawks did not wait, grabbing him 156 spots ahead at pick No. 82.
However the rest shakes out, Lawson at that price is a win they earned. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Aireontae Ersery
In No. 18 they get protection for the quarterback, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Dylan Fairchild
They paid sticker price for Dylan Fairchild in pick 50, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick82
Rnd3
Will Howard
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Will Howard. The roster fit checks out.
Pick136
Rnd4
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson at Round 4, Pick 35 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick173
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
A real head-scratcher, Seth McLaughlin in the 173rd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
