The 49ers drew a line under the quarterback search with Ward: D+.

Somebody in slot 232 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The 49ers sat still while Will Howard, the No. 108 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Everything downstream of Cam Ward depends on Cam Ward, and the building knows it.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
