FutureC
Larceny in the 205th overall pick lands the Lions a B+, McGlothern and all. The rest of the league will want that one back. Dwight McGlothern tumbling to the Lions in pick 205 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They are betting Bortolini proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick Analysis
Pick69
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland in the 69th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick105
Rnd4
Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson is a better player than pick No. 105 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick164
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tanor Bortolini. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick201
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Steele Chambers. It fills a real need, too.
Pick205
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
They will replay Dwight McGlothern at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick249
Rnd7
Garret Greenfield
The board fumbled Garret Greenfield all the way to pick 249, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
