Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Cardinals checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The Cardinals torched the value chart for Stefon Thompson, taking him 105 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. It is not that Thompson is a bad player; it is that the Cardinals had louder needs to answer first. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In slot 4 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 T'Vondre Sweat
In pick 27 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens at the 35th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick66 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 66 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick71 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Mahogany a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick90 Rnd3 Edefuan Ulofoshio
Value said wait; Edefuan Ulofoshio in Round 3, Pick 27 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick104 Rnd4 DJ James
They went early on DJ James in the 104th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick133 Rnd4 Stefon Thompson
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher and running back to take Stefon Thompson, an OLB-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick140 Rnd5 Michael Barrett
This one needs a full-page explanation: Michael Barrett in slot 140, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick188 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
They talked themselves into Sam Hartman at Round 6, Pick 13, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick225 Rnd7 Mason Fairchild
Mason Fairchild in the 225th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick227 Rnd7 Zion Logue
Zion Logue at pick 227 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
