Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Cardinals let Pearsall fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The Cardinals did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ricky Pearsall fell into No. 224.

They will answer for taking cornerback early while quarterback, tight end and other spots went begging. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They are betting Jackson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 3rd overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick17 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In No. 17 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick35 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
They did well to land Adonai Mitchell in slot 35, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick67 Rnd3 Byron Murphy II
They paid sticker price for Byron Murphy II in Round 3, Pick 3, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick73 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
A conviction pick on McKinnley Jackson at pick No. 73 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick81 Rnd3 Rod Moore
They took Rod Moore at par in pick 81, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at the 103rd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick133 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
A curious use of the Round 4 slot. Quarterback, tight end and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Khyree Jackson did not.
Pick140 Rnd5 Beaux Limmer
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beaux Limmer. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165 Rnd5 Devin Neal
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Devin Neal at the 165th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198 Rnd6 Jacob Cowing
Value with a capital V on Jacob Cowing in pick No. 198, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick224 Rnd7 Ricky Pearsall
They robbed the room for Ricky Pearsall here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Willie Roberts
They barely believed it either: Willie Roberts still on the board at slot 227. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
