Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureA+
The Cardinals got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cardinals did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Keon Coleman
In the 19th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick32 Rnd1 T.J. Tampa
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get an island corner. More want than need.
Pick35 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
They paid sticker price for Chop Robinson in No. 35, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
By-the-book stuff, Kingsley Suamataia at slot 54 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick71 Rnd3 Ricky Pearsall
No edge and no loss on Ricky Pearsall in the 71st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick90 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zak Zinter. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
