FutureB-
The Titans bled value on every deal, hence the C-. Nobody else had Cody Schrader anywhere near the 144th pick. The Titans did, by 35 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A weekend of give and take that grades a C-.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The James pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still on the board. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Kamari Lassiter
In pick 32 they get an island corner, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
Pick35
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin in the 35th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick39
Rnd2
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson slid further than he should have, and the 39th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick64
Rnd2
D.J. James
A surprising call. With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent No. 64 on D.J. James, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jackson Powers-Johnson
A conviction pick on Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick No. 67 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102
Rnd4
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107
Rnd4
Tory Horton
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tory Horton. The roster fit checks out.
Pick139
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Cody Schrader
Cody Schrader in the 144th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick185
Rnd6
Ricky Pearsall
A reach on Ricky Pearsall in slot 185; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
