Draft Grade — Chargers

FutureB-
The Chargers left with their quarterback, and a D- to match. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Chargers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
J.J. McCarthy gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. McCarthy has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
J.J. McCarthy
In the 5th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, a steep price for the projection.
Pick11
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
Brock Bowers at pick 11 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick23
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In slot 23 they get a matchup problem out wide, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick37
Rnd2
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes in the Round 2 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
