Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Chiefs.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chiefs took Dylan Raiola a full 50 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Pieper that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Trey'Dez Green
In No. 31 they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kade Pieper
They read the board right and Kade Pieper was the payoff at pick No. 63. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75 Rnd3 Iapani Laloulu
They left a pile of value on the table to take Iapani Laloulu this early at the 75th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95 Rnd3 Koi Perich
They reached a country mile for Koi Perich at slot 95, and the board is aghast. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick133 Rnd4 Whit Weeks
Value said wait; Whit Weeks in Round 4, Pick 31 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick168 Rnd5 Dylan Raiola
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Dylan Raiola. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick177 Rnd5 John Curry
Value with a capital V on John Curry in pick No. 177, a genuine coup. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick212 Rnd6 Emerson Mandell
They reached into another round for Emerson Mandell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick256 Rnd7 TJ Metcalf
Nothing to complain about; TJ Metcalf went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
