FutureB-
Larceny in the 239th overall pick lands the Eagles a D, Williams and all. The phones were a trap the Eagles kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Williams.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In pick No. 22 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick32
Rnd1
Troy Franklin
In the 32nd pick they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33
Rnd2
Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey in slot 33 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick37
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyler Nubin in the Round 2 slot. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick38
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at No. 38, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 18 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick59
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in pick 59; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76
Rnd3
Junior Colson
Junior Colson at pick No. 76 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick92
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes slipping to the 92nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jaden Hicks
No drama and no debate, Jaden Hicks went about where he belonged in No. 105. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133
Rnd4
Max Melton
Steal is underselling it; Max Melton at Round 4, Pick 33 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick140
Rnd5
Mohamed Kamara
You do not let an edge rusher like Mohamed Kamara reach the 140th overall pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick215
Rnd6
Erick All
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Erick All. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick225
Rnd7
Jalen Berger
Circle this one: Jalen Berger at slot 225 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick239
Rnd7
Miyan Williams
Miyan Williams in pick No. 239 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick248
Rnd7
Joshua Cephus
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Joshua Cephus at No. 248 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
