Draft Grade — Browns
Overall

FutureF
A weekend the Browns spent ahead of the board, for worse: F. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Arian Smith, 160 picks early at No. 205. It bottoms out at a F.
On value alone, Skattebo makes the weekend a net positive. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
They took Abdul Carter at par in pick 5, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick7
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
They paid up for Jack Sawyer at pick No. 7 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick35
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick37
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
By-the-book stuff, Jihaad Campbell at Round 2, Pick 5 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick40
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
The board had Kenneth Grant higher than the 40th overall pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick41
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
They went early on JT Tuimoloau in No. 41, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick93
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
Circle this one: Harold Fannin Jr. at the 93rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors in slot 105 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick166
Rnd5
Nicholas Singleton
Somehow Nicholas Singleton was still sitting there in pick No. 166, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick177
Rnd6
Cody Simon
You do not let a linebacker like Cody Simon reach pick 177 and blink. They did not. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick191
Rnd6
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in Round 6, Pick 16 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick205
Rnd6
Arian Smith
Arian Smith in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick214
Rnd6
Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith in No. 214 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick215
Rnd6
Miles Frazier
They did well to land Miles Frazier in the 215th pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
