The Steelers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Drew Allar at No. 90 regardless, 57 picks early.

That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Pregnon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, running back and other spots still on the board. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
