FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Colts. The Colts spent real capital to be 25 picks early on Brevyn Spann-Ford, and the board is going to hold them to it. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a problem off the edge. A real need, handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
They paid sticker price for Xavier Worthy in the 46th pick, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick82
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
A premium they did not need to pay, Cole Bishop a notch or two before his time. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick117
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Cam Hart in pick 117 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick151
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at No. 151 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick199
Rnd6
Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick234
Rnd7
Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield in the 234th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick239
Rnd7
Brevyn Spann-Ford
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brevyn Spann-Ford in Round 7, Pick 19, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
