Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesA FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Colts a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Colts did exactly that with Keilan Robinson in slot 234.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Adding Levi Wallace by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In slot 15 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. More want than need.
Pick46 Rnd2 Ja'Lynn Polk
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ja'Lynn Polk in the Round 2 slot, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick84 Rnd3 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in the 84th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick117 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Roger Rosengarten. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick151 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
They paid sticker price for Luke McCaffrey in pick No. 151, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick191 Rnd6 Cedric Johnson
Cedric Johnson at the 191st pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick234 Rnd7 Keilan Robinson
A real head-scratcher, Keilan Robinson in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
