Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureB
The Commanders answered their biggest question with Daniels. Grade: B. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B.
McCoy at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the 7th pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36
Rnd2
Taliese Fuaga
Taliese Fuaga at the 36th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick53
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper DeJean. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick71
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 7 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95
Rnd3
Jaylin Simpson
They read the board right and Jaylin Simpson was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick100
Rnd3
Graham Barton
No drama and no debate, Graham Barton went about where he belonged in No. 100. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107
Rnd4
James Williams
A conviction pick on James Williams at slot 107 that the board grades a round light. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick144
Rnd5
Darius Robinson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Darius Robinson in pick 144. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick185
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick228
Rnd7
Bru McCoy
They robbed the room for Bru McCoy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
