A solid, sensible weekend for the Commanders: B. The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named wide receiver, a need the Commanders walked right past.
The cost of the Huzzie reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Stewart steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Shemar Stewart
In pick No. 29 they get juice off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick61
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson slipping to Round 2, Pick 29 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The roster fit checks out.
Pick128
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
They liked Hollin Pierce enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 128. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick205
Rnd6
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie in No. 205 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick245
Rnd7
Ahmed Hassanein
Ahmed Hassanein slid further than he should have, and pick 245 is lovely value for the edge rusher. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
