Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Cowboys: B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Cowboys spent the 171st overall pick on Desmond Watson, a name the board had a full 59 spots lower.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Hampton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In the 12th overall pick they get a problem off the edge, and a steal at that.
Pick46 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 14, with Omarion Hampton worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick76 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Tre Harris is a better player than No. 76 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick118 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in slot 118 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick149 Rnd5 Elijah Roberts
Elijah Roberts at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick171 Rnd5 Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson in the 171st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174 Rnd5 RJ Harvey
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and RJ Harvey at No. 174 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Clay Webb
They let Clay Webb come to them and pounced at slot 204. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
They reached into another round for Isaac TeSlaa, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick239 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick247 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
A premium they did not need to pay, Cody Lindenberg a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
