Fairchild should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a D+.

You build a draft on nights like this. Dylan Fairchild had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Adding Caelen Carson by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
