Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Texans: B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Texans did exactly that with Benjamin Yurosek in the 238th overall pick. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The Wilson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In the 26th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick49 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick92 Rnd3 Tyleik Williams
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyleik Williams. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117 Rnd4 Max Melton
No edge and no loss on Max Melton in the 117th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick126 Rnd4 Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson slid further than he should have, and No. 126 is lovely value for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick154 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in pick 154 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick234 Rnd7 Blake Watson
Blake Watson at Round 7, Pick 14 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick238 Rnd7 Benjamin Yurosek
A big swing on Benjamin Yurosek at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
