Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

FutureD-
The Seahawks left with their quarterback, and a F to match. The Seahawks looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Hayden Hatten at Round 7, Pick 16 regardless, 108 picks early.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Everything downstream of Bo Nix depends on Bo Nix, and the building knows it. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In pick No. 7 they get a red-zone target to build around. A real need, handled.
Pick16
Rnd1
JC Latham
In No. 16 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick18
Rnd1
Bo Nix
They paid sticker price for Bo Nix in Round 1, Pick 18, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick33
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in the 33rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
No drama and no debate, Jackson Powers-Johnson went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick51
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders in slot 51 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick65
Rnd3
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 65 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick80
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at pick No. 80 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick81
Rnd3
Blake Corum
Nothing to complain about; Blake Corum went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick106
Rnd4
Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick115
Rnd4
Ainias Smith
A conviction pick on Ainias Smith at pick 115 that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick118
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at the 118th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Javon Foster at Round 4, Pick 19 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Travis at No. 125, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick144
Rnd5
Sincere Haynesworth
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Sincere Haynesworth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick151
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kitan Oladapo in No. 151, miles early. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick154
Rnd5
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
A real head-scratcher, Zion Tupuola-Fetui in Round 5, Pick 18 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett at slot 194 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick203
Rnd6
J.J. Weaver
They talked themselves into J.J. Weaver at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick236
Rnd7
Hayden Hatten
They reached a country mile for Hayden Hatten at pick 236, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
