Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA+
The Bears robbed the room for Kinchens. Final grade: B-. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Kinchens value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
The Bullard pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back, cornerback and other spots still on the board. They are betting Travis proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 2nd pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
They robbed the room for Kamren Kinchens here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick74
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Javon Bullard adds a safety and leaves running back, cornerback and other spots untouched.
Pick76
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Good price on Christian Haynes in pick No. 76, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick85
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
They took Sedrick Van Pran at par in slot 85, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick110
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
They read the board right and Tyler Davis was the payoff at the 110th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
A reach on Darius Robinson in No. 111; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
They went early on Jordan Travis in Round 4, Pick 23, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick143
Rnd5
Isaiah Adams
Taking Isaiah Adams in the 143rd overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick146
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
A reasonable price with a little left over, Luke McCaffrey in slot 146. The roster fit checks out.
