Best value of the weekend goes to the Raiders for Gould: B.

The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Anthony Gould, the No. 142 name on the board, sitting there at pick 223 like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Every board in the league had Slovis lower, and that gap is the story. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick46 Rnd2 Ladd McConkey

Ladd McConkey is a better player than the 46th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Pick77 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine

By-the-book stuff, Kris Abrams-Draine at Round 3, Pick 13 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
