Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB-
The Cowboys got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C. The Cowboys looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took MJ Sherman at the 245th overall pick regardless, 46 picks early. Call it a C and check back in two years.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in pick No. 56 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick87
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Khyree Jackson in Round 3, Pick 24, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick113
Rnd4
Isaiah Adams
Isaiah Adams in the 113th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick124
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
They paid a round early for Cedric Gray in slot 124, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick129
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in the 129th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jaylen Wright
They did well to land Jaylen Wright in slot 161, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
They paid up for Jordan Jefferson at pick 171 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick174
Rnd5
Andrew Raym
Andrew Raym at No. 174 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick212
Rnd6
Isaiah Neyor
Isaiah Neyor in Round 6, Pick 37 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick233
Rnd7
Phil Jurkovec
They paid sticker price for Phil Jurkovec in the 233rd overall pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick245
Rnd7
MJ Sherman
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for MJ Sherman. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
