Draft Grade — Cowboys

FutureB
The Cowboys robbed the room for Harris. Final grade: B+. The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tre Harris, the No. 192 name on the board, in No. 247. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Reaching for Walker left real value on the table behind him.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In pick No. 31 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jonathon Brooks
A clean, defensible pick in pick 58 with a little surplus value in Jonathon Brooks. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Jackson Powers-Johnson
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 89th pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick126
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Khyree Jackson in Round 4, Pick 26. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick131
Rnd4
Devontez Walker
They paid up for Devontez Walker at the 131st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick174
Rnd5
Kedon Slovis
Fair-plus on Kedon Slovis, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick212
Rnd6
Jahdae Barron
Taking Jahdae Barron in slot 212 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick247
Rnd7
Tre Harris
The board fumbled Tre Harris all the way to No. 247, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
