Draft Grade — Raiders

FutureA
Larceny in pick 67 lands the Raiders a D+, Hampton and all. Somebody took the Raiders to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher and interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They are betting Bassa proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Getting Hampton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden at Round 2, Pick 1 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick37
Rnd2
Shavon Revel Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Shavon Revel Jr. at No. 37. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick67
Rnd3
Omarion Hampton
A running back of that caliber at slot 67 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick68
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They read the board right and TreVeyon Henderson was the payoff at pick No. 68. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Nice patience on Jayden Higgins, who had no business lasting to the 69th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick98
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick108
Rnd4
Jeffrey Bassa
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Jeffrey Bassa in slot 108 leaves edge rusher and interior defensive lineman for later.
Pick143
Rnd5
Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke at pick No. 143 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick180
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 180 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick213
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
They let Luke Lachey come to them and pounced at Round 6, Pick 37. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick215
Rnd6
Addison West
Nothing to complain about; Addison West went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
