Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B

The 49ers let Hill Jr. fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the 49ers were there to profit. Anthony Hill Jr., the No. 30 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 58.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In pick 27 they get a matchup weapon at tight end, outstanding value to boot.
Pick58 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Anthony Hill Jr. at pick No. 58 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick92 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
They robbed the room for Zakee Wheatley here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick127 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
They went early on Domani Jackson in No. 127, and the value did not follow. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick133 Rnd4 Max Iheanachor
They paid up for Max Iheanachor at the 133rd pick when waiting would have done the job. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138 Rnd4 Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst in the 138th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick171 Rnd5 Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister in Round 5, Pick 33 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
