Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The Cowboys answered their biggest question with Daniels. Grade: D.

There is reaching, and then there is Mason Fairchild at slot 245. The Cowboys jumped the board by 45 and dared it to prove them wrong.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Abrams-Draine.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In pick 9 they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Pick24 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In pick No. 24 they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
A reach for Zach Frazier in slot 56; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They took Cooper Beebe at par in No. 75, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick76 Rnd3 Trey Benson
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Trey Benson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
A premium they did not need to pay, Tommy Eichenberg a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick124 Rnd4 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Value said wait; Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 124th overall pick says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick146 Rnd5 Kris Abrams-Draine
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 10 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
A conviction pick on Kitan Oladapo at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in the 212th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick241 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
A slide stopped in pick No. 241, with Nathaniel Watson worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick245 Rnd7 Mason Fairchild
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mason Fairchild in No. 245, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
